T1  - Empirische Studie für den Einsatz von Business Analytics in mittelständischen Unternehmen
N2  - This thesis identifies the advantages business analytics provide responsible persons (chief executive officers, controllers, chief finance officers, project managers, IT managers) in Austrian medium-sized construction industry companies with an existing information system. The thesis begins with a literature review to define business analytics, the building trade, and medium-sized companies. 17 hypothesised advantages are then explored using quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative method is an online survey; expert interviews with three responsible persons form the qualitative method. The outcome is run through a correlation analysis in order to evaluate the advantages. The results show there are 16 advantages including better forecasting, understanding of patterns, increase of quality, and optimised capacity in production. Only the assumed advantage of a smaller number of stoppages in production couldn´t be confirmed. These 16 advantages show the value of business analytics for medium-sized companies in the construction industry.
